Budo Taijutsu is a 900 year old martial art that focuses on combat.  It is a great tool for self defense that appeals to both kids and adults

Shuhari Dojo Students

We learn by training with partners.  Understanding how to use techniques with resistance is the key to our art.

Our Instructors have over 100 years of teaching and training experience and are excited to teach each and every day!

Many who train in the dojo make lifelong friendships from people all over the world.

The dojo plans trips to Japan every other year.

How old does my child have to be to start martial arts?

We start children as early as 6 years old and kids class goes to 13 years of age.

How many classes should I attend each week?

We understand that kids are busy these days.  Family and friends, sports, music lessons, and on and on...

Most kids come to class twice a week, but they can attend all three classes offered for the same low price.

Will Martial Arts make my child overly aggressive?

No. In fact, quite the opposite!

Children are often exposed to large amounts of simulated and real violence through video games, television, movies, and the internet.  According to David Grossman, "Violent video games teach children to kill by rewarding violent behavior,

which can lead to desensitization to real-world violence.

At the Shuhari Dojo, we teach students practical and effective techniques to defuse situations before they escalate to violence. We also focus on awareness and escape techniques to help them move to safety. If your child encounters an aggressive situation that cannot be resolved peacefully or escaped from, they will have the basic martial arts skills to defend themselves
